Italy Begin Euro 2024 Title Defense with Victory
Spalletti's Squad Looks Strong in Albania
Italy opened their Euro 2024 campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Albania on Saturday night. Despite falling behind early, Luciano Spalletti's side showed their resilience and determination to claim all three points.
The Italians found themselves trailing in the 15th minute after Kristjan Asllani's well-taken goal. However, they responded quickly and equalized just five minutes later through a stunning volley from Nicolo Barella.
Immobile and Chiesa on Target
Ciro Immobile gave Italy the lead for the first time in the 31st minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by Albania. Federico Chiesa then sealed the victory in the 76th minute with a brilliant individual effort, dribbling past two defenders before firing into the bottom corner.
Italy's performance was far from perfect, but they showed plenty of character and quality to come away with a win. The victory puts them in a strong position in Group A, ahead of their next match against Turkey on June 20.
